Fyra bra böcker om Portugal
1. Xenophobes guide to the Portuguese. By Matthew Hancock. A frank and funny look at what makes the Portuguese. PORTUGUESE.
2. The Portuguese: A Modern History. By Barry Hatton. Combining history and anecdote, Barry Hatton paints an intimate portrait of a fascinating country and its people. Lättläst.
3. The First Global Village: How Portugal Changed the World, by Martin Page. Liknar Barry Hattons bok, men med mer fakta. Inte fullt så lättläst tycker jag. Så här tyckte en läsare på Amazon: If you are looking for an easy to read journalist’s personal narrative of Portugal, then this could be the book for you, even at £54 (July 2011), but a better personal narrative by another journalist has just appeared; Barry Hatton’s The Portuguese Portrait of a Nation is a very good read and is also much cheaper.
4. If you want historical accuracy and reliability, buy David Birmingham’s Concise History of Portugal and save yourself
